THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate and estate administration along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year helping parties to help them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a crucial role in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice transcended her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law, including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
