Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of court processes and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - divorce, custody, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
