Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law, including divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's need.
